Though not as popular or large as Bondi Beach, Coogee has some 400 metres of beach, backed by parklands and with is a splendid promenade. Nearby places to eat and bars complete the beach resort picture.

There is an coast walk going all the way north to Bondi Beach, offering excellent views of the Sydney coast along the headlands and other, more secluded, beaches.

At both the Southern and Northern ends there are rock pools, suitable for families if the surf gets large.

But there is more than the glorious sun, sand and surf - the nightlife here makes it a popular gathering spot. The Beach Palace Hotel has rooftop views of the surrounds and along with the Coogee Bay Hotel, has nightly music, both live and dance.

How to get to Coogee
