The inner city suburb of Sydney has grown its collection of restaurants and places to eat, a place where many come to eat, being close to the city, yet far away. Older style terrace homes still occupy the land here, making it very different from the busy city.

University students, artists, musicians and other creative types call it home with the more well off also beginning to move into this changing suburb. Ahgora

Relaxed fine dining can be found at this Greek and Mediterranean inspired restaurant located on Glebe’s main street. Serving modern Greek food, sharing is encouraged giving you the chance to try dishes. Numerous of favourite reviews and our own experience place this at the top of the Glebe Restaurants.

Their eclectic Mediterranean dishes and modern interpretations of Greek food make for great flavours while sharing dishes makes for a great meal. Try the Slow Roasted Lamb with spiced eggplant puree, chick pea and pistachio crunch or the Chicken Souvlaki.

Ahgora

Bombay Street Kitchen

Authentic Bombay street food, delightful in spicy flavours and fresh. Using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients you will find some of your favourite and perhaps newer dishes to enjoy. Fully licensed you can also bring your own (BYO) choice wine which you may have been saving for that special occasion (an Aussie tradition which we encourage). Being an Indian restaurant, they also do great Vegan.

This smallish diner with an open kitchen is known for its tasty dishes, reasonable prices and good service. They have both an a la carte menu and a sharing menu. Their well chosen and extensive wine list complements the meals, from both imported and Australian grown.

A smallish and seasonal menu makes for food with the best and freshest ingredients.

Pizzeria Da Alfredo

This traditional family owned pizzeria has a wood-fire oven for that great flavour. It also imports their important ingredients directly from Italy. They have an amazing array of pizzas on offer, including their Pizza Al Metro as made in Naples.

They also do beautiful antipasto and mains. Their Linquine with cherry tomato, scampi and chilli is delish, as are their pizzas. Definitely worth a try.

Pizzeria Da Alfredo

Ombretta

Another traditional Italian place in Glebe is Ombretta. Noted for its small, yet ever changing menu that focuses on different regions of Italy and the freshest of ingredients. In fact, the menu is on the wall while the waiter is usually more than happy to talk you through it, with a knowledge that only experience brings. So do be prepared for a different experience, in fact with over twenty regions to choose from, everytime you go there. Authentic, yet original and tasty!

Ombretta

Himalayan Char Grill

Authentic Nepalese. From high in the mountains come these dishes served with charm and efficiency. Open since 1996, they have tasty dishes at quite reasonable prices. The Himalayan grill makes great Chicken, Lamb and Prawn. They also do assorted delights for vegetarians.
