Rockhampton Queensland
The largest city here on the Capricorn is Rockhampton, considered the Beef Capital of Australia. Located on the Fitzroy River, some 40 kms inland it was established in 1854. Many of their heritage buildings have been restored, including Quay Street, alongside the river.
At the Aboriginal Dreamtime Cultural Centre. located on the Hume Highway in Rockhampton, you can experience and learn about Aboriginal Culture. Also in Rockhampton, the Botanic Gardens have a wonderful collection of tropical plants and flowers.
