Consisting of an archipelago of seventy five islands, the Whitsunday Group of Islands are part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. These islands are stunning, some of them have world class eco resorts as well as camping facilities.
Hamilton, Daydream, Sth Molle, Lindeman and Hayman Islands have a surprisingly wide range of accommodation, from camping, permits required, to serviced apartments, lodges by the sea to luxury resorts. The other islands are uninhabited, but accessible by cruises, you can even hire your own boat.

Mackay to the South is a gorgeous coastal town, surrounded by blue waters and cane fields.
Also south, at Sarina, you can see the raw sugar cane made into molasses and then crystal sugar. The Sarina Sugar Shed, located near the Sarina Tourist Art & Craft Visitor Information Centre on the Bruce Highway (A1). They also shows you how rum is made, you can even try a sample or two.
