Evans Head and Surrounds

Located on the mouth of the Evans River and on the coast, the fishing village has plenty to offer for visitors. There is a permanent prawn fleet based there, you may wish to try some of these very fresh prawns.

The town beach has good surf but is protected from the occasional big swells from the south east. Situated between the National Parks of Broadwater and Bundjalung, it is a perfect place to explore nature at its best.

The purpose built Paperbark Gallery Working Studios and Showroom features furniture making and restoration, graphic design and calligraphic arts, as well as works from regional local artists.

With a collection of military and civilian aircraft, the Evans Head Memorial Museum showcases history and the planes and stories that make it so: Evans Head Memorial Museum.

Surrounds

Bundjalung National Park

With gorgeous beaches, lagoons and waterways, Bundjalung National Park protects this part of the NSW Coast. Kayaking, swimming, snorkelling, surfing and just enjoying the fresh ocean air while exploring the park are all popular activities, as is fishing.

In the central part of the park, there are wetlands and lagoons, with a diverse variety of wildlife. Camping is available. Last but not least, it also has some 38kms of glorious beaches.

Iluka Nature Reserve

Close to the town of Iluka, the nature reserve is a tranquil rainforest and part of the World Heritage Listed Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. Head up to the Iluka Bluff lookout for fantastic views of the coast and ocean, you may even see passing pods of migratory whales in the winter and spring.

Broadwater National Park

The Broadwater National Park is perfect place to spot a whole host of Australian animals and birds. The beaches are backed by tall sand dunes that date back to the last ice ages and numerous walking tracks that take you to all the interesting places.
