National Parks practically surround Murwillumbah, in the lush green Northern Rivers region situated on the north east corner New South Wales. In the town itself, art deco buildings line the streets, where the locals have adopted trendy cafés and a great selection of restaurants that serve menu items made from the freshest locally grown ingredients.

The surrounds of ’Murbah’ provide for a wide variety of activities, whether soaking up the sun on a deserted beach, finding a challenging surf spot, cruising or fishing the Tweed River or exploring one or more of the fourteen National Parks and reserves: Northern Rivers.

National Parks

Protecting pristine verdant wilderness, the mountains, rainforests, aboriginal sites, the animals and plants, the picturesque National Parks of the Northern Rivers region are some of the most enthralling in the state.

The nearby Wollumbin National Park should be explored from the the World Heritage-listed subtropical rainforest below, part of the Gondwana Rainforest of Australia. The mountain rises dramatically above the landscape, an ancient remnant volcanic caldera. Sacred to the Aboriginal Bundjalung people of the region, the mountain can be seen from many places in the Northern Rivers, including the coast.

Tweed River

Tweed Regional Gallery

Tweed Regional Museum

The Tweed Regional Museum in Murwillumbah, at 2 Queensland Road, has recently been refurbished completely. With outstanding displays and more than ten thousand artefacts and thousands of photos from the Tweed region in their collections, the museum explores the history, events, people and places of the region.
