Photo: Narrabeen Peninsula - The beach stretches all the way to Collaroy Beach in the distance. Narrabeen Lakes back the peninsula to the west, while the ocean beach faces the Tasman Sea. The distant headland you can see is Long Reef Point, part of the Long Reef Aquatic Reserve.
The Northern Beaches of Sydney stretch for some 20kms from Manly Beach in the south to Palm Beach in the north. You can visit these beaches from the city center by bus at Wynyard or by ferry to Manly from Circular Quay, also in the city.
There are tours available as well or you can drive over the Sydney Harbour Bridge to visit these Northern Beaches. See the Greater Sydney Map
