Byron Bay in east Australia has a lot more, great shopping and a growing collection of restaurants to try, while nearby are stunning national parks in the hinterlands and along the coast.

Northern Rivers

Byron Bay is located in the Northern Rivers, on the north east coast of NSW. The pace here is much more tranquil than the Gold Coast, just to the north in Queensland.

There are cruises and tours available of the region. Eco kayaking is another way to explore the riverways, there are snorkelling and diving cruises of the reefs.
