Daintree Queensland

Daintree National Park in Queensland is one of the most stunning in the world. There are plants known to exist more than 160 million years ago growing here and rare animals in an amazing biodiverse landscape.

The original inhabitants, Kuku Yalanji people or the "Rainforest People", lived here for many thousands of years and called it Julaymba. These people were subjected to many relocations from the area over the years, but their culture still survives.

In 2007 they won the right to manage their traditional lands in coordination with the government, as well as access for hunting, fishing, camping and ceremonies. This should help the preservation of a beautiful part of Queensland for much longer, if not forever. See more Kuku Yalanji Dreamtime
