South Molle Island, one of the Molle Islands off the east coast of Queensland and just north east of Mackay is also part of the Whitsunday Islands, an archipelago of stunning natural islands and atolls.
One of the first islands in the region to establish a resort, the island has a golf course as well as whole host of other activities available for visitors. Great for backpackers and those seeking adventure travel, there is kayaking, fishing, water skiing as well as numerous scenic walks.
There is limited camping available in the Whitsunday Island National Park, and on South Molle there are two camp sites, Sandy Bay in the south and Paddle Bay in the north. You will need to get a permit from the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing.
You can get to the island from Abel Point Marina at Airlie Beach.
