Melbourne Chinatown - Chinese Museum

Established in 1985, the Chinese Museum serves to explain the role played by the Australians of Chinese descent in Australia through the last 200 years. Chinese traders plied the waters around the country for over 200 years, if not longer.

A small number of Chinese came to the Colonies of New South Wales and Victoria during the early years from 1788, and many more arrived during the Gold Rush days.
