Built in 1862, this building began its life as a meeting place for the ’The Sons of Temperance’. The local council purchased the building from them in 1884 for use as a Town Hall. Immediatedly adjacent to this building was the Campbelltown fire station.
This building and the adjacent one behind it is now occupied by the Campbelltown Town Hall Theatre.
Frederick Fisher’s ghost is said to inhabit this place, something which this writer was not able to verify. However, Fred Fisher has achieved legendary status amongst the locals, every year in November they hold the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost. Complete with street parade, the Fisher’s Ghost Fun Run, arts and crafts fair, nightly ghost tours, heritage tour, fireworks and Carnival.
