Beaches north of Sydney Harbour include Collaroy. Merging into Narrabeen Beach further north, the whole beach is some 3.4 kilometres in length. See:

Surfing at Collaroy is popular, good for those just learning to surf on smaller days, on big days long lines of waves can form from one side of the beach to the other, all the way to Narrabeen.

Other nearby beaches that are popular for surfing, swimming, body surfing and boogie boarding include Warriewood and Dee Why. These beaches are patrolled on weekends as is Collaroy and Narrabeen, remember to swim between the flags!

In the city center, the closest beach Bondi Beach while a scenic harbour ferry ride gets you to Manly Beach.

Northern Beaches

There are beaches stretching further north from Manly. There are bus services that can take you to the beach suburbs not only from Manly, but from the city as well, at Wynyard Train Station.
