The Coral Sea - OK, well not much to see here, click the Map to Zoom Out or use the arrows to navigate West to the Far North Coast of Queensland or South, to see the North Coast.
This region, as you can see, has a lot of water and is called the Coral Sea. This map is not really relevant to Queensland, or much anything else really. We do apologise, the graphic artist responsible for this has since resigned.
There was once a famous battle fought here during WWII. Fought five months from the initial Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, from May 4 to May 8, 1942, the battle was to signal the beginning of the end for the Japanese Imperial Navy.
It was this defeat, and the defeat suffered by the Japanese by the hand of the Australians at the battle of the Kokoda Track (Papua New Guinea) that led to the final decision by them to not invade Australia.
See more about this famous batte, part of the Battle of Australia.
