Tasmania is Australia’s Island state. Some 200kms south of the mainland, its many lakes, vast wilderness areas and snow capped mountains make it a popular destination for Australians and holiday makers from all parts of the globe.
The Bass Strait ferry service from Melbourne Victoria disembarks passengers at the northern city of Devonport, situated at at the mouth of the Tasmanian Mersey River in the North West.
This part of Tasmania is Cradle Mountain country, while the coastal route to the far north west has some of most beautiful countryside found throughout Australia.
