Maitland Gaol
The jail has a long history of housing some of Australia’s most violent criminals. A number of those convicted of the most serious crimes were executed here. Now a NSW Heritage site, there are themed tours available. You can even try a group sleepover, if you dare.
The nearby wineries are worth visiting, many have wine cellar doors, where you can purchase select wines. Some of these are only available here and nowhere else.
