Lennox Head, Northern Rivers NSW

Scenic beaches beckon the visitor here, Seven Mile Beach stretches from here to the coastal town of Byron Bay. Drive the Coast Road to explore north or south.

Nature lovers will enjoy exploring the surrounds of Lennox Head. Nearby is the Ballina Nature Reserve, protecting over 700 hectares, while to the north west are the stunning national parks of Mount Jerusalum and Nightcap. In the south you can find the Tuckean Nature Reserve, Broadwater National Park and the Bundjalung National Park.

Surfing

Lennox Head is also a National Surfing Reserve, surfing contests are held through the year. At the point, you will find one of the longest right hand breaks found in Australia. Beach breaks are found along Seven Mile Beach, as well as south of Lennox Point, at Boulders, Sharpes Beach, Flat Rock and Angels Beach.

Places to Visit

Nightcap National Park

This beautiful national park has a number of walks, varying in difficulty from easy to the more challenging. The Historic Nightcap walking track offers fantastic views of the surrounds and the mountains. Glimpses of wildlife can be found on the many tracks amongst some of the most pristine rainforests found in NSW.

Mount Jerusalem National Park

There are three rivers running through this park, including the Tweed River. That being said, access is limited here due to ongoing conservation efforts.

Arakwal National Park

Just north of Lennox Head, the Arakwal National Park is co-managed by the traditional owners of the land, the descendents of the Aboriginal Arakwal people that have lived here for thousands of years.

A stunning beach runs along the coast, with whales migrating to and from their breeding grounds in the north and back again during the months of June to November. There are good surfing spots available here when the wind direction and tide is right, you can also beach fish here as well.

Broken Head Nature Reserve

At the Broken Head Nature Reserve, there is fishing, swimming and surf spots, as well as picnic and BBQ areas. A walking track, accessible from the car park takes you to various places around the reserve, through protected subtropical rainforests to Kings Beach and the three sisters headland.
