Maroubra Beach - Surf

Another great place to surf, sun and have a great day at the beach other than Bondi is Maroubra Beach. This 1 kilometre long beach has a backing green reserve, complete with picnic tables and BBQ facilities, there is even a skate park and plenty of green space for other informal sports activities.

The name Maroubra comes from a local Aboriginal word, meaning ‘place of thunder’. Maroubra is also home to the Oktoberfest/Fun Run, held every... ummm, October.

The Sydney Coastal Walk, with its stunning views, connects Bondi, Bronte, Coogee and Gordons Bay with Maroubra Beach. There are plans to extend this walk even further. At the south end of the beach, some 70 hectares of bushland and sweeping headland views have been now dedicated to a new National Park to be located here.
