Tropical North Queensland - Tourist Guide

Palm Cove

Cairns northern beaches - Just north of Cairns is Palm Cove, with its white sandy beach and near the Daintree River & Rainforest, is a popular tourist spot for good reason. The drive from Cairns is a joy in itself, with the lush surrounding scenery intermingled with views of the Coral Sea. Luxury resorts, family resorts, serviced and self-contained units give plenty of choice for accommodation, while Palm Cove itself has the Novotel Palm Cove Resort with its championship golf course.

Port Douglas also has a choice collection of beachside restaurants and eateries with great food. described as laid back, this small village is a tropical oasis. The weekend market has not only tropical foods but is a good place to find things for friends and family.

Daintree River & Rainforest

Older than the Amazon, the world renowned Daintree Rainforest is a wonderful place, a photographers dream and source of adventure. Go spotting for Crocodiles on the Daintree River. Mission Beach

South from Cairns, about 90 minutes drive you will find Mission Beach. Twixt the waters of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and the deep rainforest of the Wet Tropics it is a great escape from the stress of working life. The carefully preserved surrounding areas have tours and cruises operating from Mission Beach, allowing to experience this part of Australia with a distinct seaside tropical flavour.

Cape Tribulation

Cape Tribulation is where the Daintree River and the Rainforest meet the Great Barrier Reef. It is known for its breathtaking scenery and spectacular diversity of wildlife.

Exploring the Great Barrier Reef

You will find plenty of opportunities to explore the Great Barrier Reef National Park, one of the seven wonders of the world. There are not only cruises available, but snorkelling and scuba diving at the many choice spots and chances to visit some of the islands themselves. You can even tour them from the air for wide expansive views of emerald green and ocean blue.
