Having considerable experience with koalas and their protection, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane Queensland has more than 130 koalas and other Australian animals, including platypus, that you can view close-up.
If your in Brisbane and wish to experience more than just viewing animals in a cage, this is a great place to visit, particularly for kids and the rest of the family.
The park was actually the first in the world and today is the largest of its kind. It is even listed in the Guinness Book of World Records!
There are also sheep shearing shows, with highly intelligent and skilled sheep dogs herding sheep, showing their mustering abilities.
They also have a wonderful bird of prey show. Other shows include your chance to learn about Australian snakes, kangaroos, lorrikeets, platypus and tasmanian devils.
There is suitable access and facilities for the disabled, including parking. BBQ facilities are also available, or you can just enjoy a coffee or a complete meal at the in their covered courtyard, with koalas in full view.
Only a short distance from the city centre and only a fifty minute drive from the Gold Coast it makes for a great day out for everyone, including the whole family.
