Falls Creek - Snow Country Australia

Summer and Winter

Spread over more than 450 hectares, Falls Creek is Victoria’s largest ski and snowboarding resort, with the best cross-country skiing terrain to be found in Australia on the Bogong High Plains. Falls Creek is in an ideal position to receive, make and retain good quality snow. Many of the ski slopes at Falls Creek face south.

Falls Creek Village Ski in / Ski Out

Renowned for the highest snowfalls and extensive snow-making system, Falls Creek is also famous for its European style village.

The village roads are left covered in snow, adding to a magical setting and creating a true ski-in / ski-out village in Australia. Skiiers can ski right from their door in normal snow conditions. Vehicles are not permitted in the village in normal conditions.

Snowmaking covers the entire lift system in the Sun Valley region. The snowmaking covers a wide range of runs for beginner all the way to advanced. In the resort there are a total of 14 lifts.

Family Friendly - Fun for Kids

This family friendly resort has oodles of activities and fun for kids. There is a snow bungy, riding a snowmobile, helicopter flights, snowbiking, entertainment including Pete the Snow Dragon shows, snowtubing, snocce (bocce in the snow), snowman building comps, kat skiing, night skiing, grooming tours, early morning skis on the slopes and even mini rail jams.

The lifts and runs covered include: Ruined Castle, Scott’s, Lakeside, Towers, Highway 83, Drover’s Dream, Playground 1 and 2, Tom Thumb, The Tube, Mitey Mite, Eagle, Summit, Village and International. Home trails covered include Broadway, Days End, Junction and Wombats Ramble.

Altitude and Facts

Altitude - Falls Creek itself extends to an altitude of 1,842 metres above sea level, while the village stands at a height of 1,600 metres.

Skiing Stats: Falls Creek has Victoria’s largest snow-making facilities, covering over 110 hectares. Indeed, Falls Creek is the largest ski / boarding resort in Victoria, with over 450 hectares of ski area.

The longest beginners run is 2.2 km and the longest intermediate/advanced run is 3 km Terrain Park - for both skiers and boarders.

Kids, Beginners, Intermediate And Expert

Falls Creek is has been voted number one numerous times for its terrain parks, hosting exceptional features and installations. There are four parks with kids, beginners, intermediate and expert areas designed to challenge all riders.

How to Get to Falls Creek

Location - Falls Creek Alpine Resort is located 350 kilometres north east of Melbourne, in the heart of the Victoria High Country, with glorius views of the Bogong High Plains. It is 690 kilometres (7.5 hours drive) from Sydney, 958 kilometres (10.5 hours drive) from Adelaide and is a 4.5 hour fly/drive from Brisbane.

Getting there - Travelling to Falls Creek by car takes approximately four hours from Melbourne. To get there, take the Hume Highway, turn off near Wangaratta and drive through Myrtleford and Mt. Beauty. Pyles Falls Creek Coaches take people from Melbourne (Southern Cross station and Melbourne Airport), Albury or Mt. Beauty to Falls Creek.

Trains run daily to Wangaratta and Albury. Connect at Wangaratta with the V/Line coach service to Mt Beauty and join Pyles Falls Creek coaches to the resort. Alternatively, take the Pyles coach or a hire car from Albury. Fly to Albury Airport, then drive or coach two hours to Falls Creek.
