Part of the attraction of this building as a landmark is the octagonal glass dome which covers the main reading room, added to the library in 1913. Lining the octagon are displays including science, literature, culture, old world maps, even a working model of Ned Kelly’s armour and an exhibit about his life and death. Photo of Glass Roof.
Open from Monday to Thursday, 10 am to 9 pm. Friday to Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm, with some parts of the Library having different opening hours. Closed Good Fridays, Christmas Day and Boxing Days and New Year’s Day.
