Albert Park Melbourne Victoria

Melbourne’s Albert Park, located just south of the Melbourne City Center CBD, covers 225 hectares and is a growing centre for sports and recreation.

It has numerous facilities for recreation, it even has a driving range and an 18 Hole Public Golf Course, a F1 race course and Albert Park Lake itself is a wetland that provides sanctuary for native flora and wildlife.

Around the lake, you can find sporting fields, bbq areas, nine picnic areas with tables, numerous walkways and a bike track.

There are boating facilities and water activities at Albert Park Lake, where you can also hire a paddle boat. There is also a large half pipe for skateboarders and a basketball court.

You can also find excellent swimming facilities at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, located at the north east end of the park. The Bob Jane Stadium, also located at that end of the park is for football, including soccer.

As many already know, Albert Park is also the site for the F1 Grand Prix every March.

How to Get to Albert Park

Besides a number of limited parking areas for cars, there are trams at Albert Rd and Fitzroy St. Along Cantebury road there is Light Rail and you can take Tram 112 (South Melbourne and St. Kilda beach) on the corner of Collins and Spencer Sts. in the Melbourne CBD.
