Princes Bridge is actually the 3rd Bridge to occupy this part of the Yarra River, built in 1888. Here they celebrate the Moomba Festival, New Years Eve in Melbourne and more.
The bridge carries traffic to and from Melbourne CBD from the south side of the Yarra River.
Located on the Melbourne CBD side nearby is Federation Square, the Melbourne Visitors Information Centre, Flinders Street Train Station and St Paul’s Cathedral.
Just over the bridge, on the St. Kilda Street side you can find The Arts Centre, one of the foremost leading performing arts centres in Australia. Within a short walk along St. Kilda St. is the Southgate Arts and Leisure Precinct, the National Gallery of Victoria and further south, the Shrine of Remembrance, found in the Kings Domain.
