Katoomba was one of the major resting points for travellers during the days of Cobb & Co., a coaching company that crossed the mountains in the 1800s. It now has the Basil Nut Asian Kitchen with rave reviews for their seafood curry and their salads.

Why put up with winter chills when you can enjoy a fabulous meal at the cozy Jamison House’ Rooster Restaurant? This special place, situated in Leura takes care to make their dishes from fresh, in season local ingredients. They do an all day breakfast for those late risers, as well as lunch seven days a week. Located in the Black Gold Motel, which itself is located in the historic old Wallarang School, dating back to 1881. The school is still in existence, but at a different location. At the Crib Room Restaurant they do breakfast and dinner and have a licensed bar. During dinner, they serve dishes such as Crumbed Barramundi, Pan Seared Chicken and Oven Roasted Salmon as well as more traditional favorites such as Crumbed Lamb Cutlets and Pot Pie.
