Hanging Rock

Where ‘Mad Dog‘ Morgan, the notorious bushranger, was believed to have had a hideout at Hanging Rock that later, the film Picnic at Hanging Rock made famous. Formed as a small volcano, mysterious but beautiful Hanging Rock. See photo below.

Daylesford

If you are looking for a gentle stroll there are plenty of easy walks round picturesque country towns such as Daylesford, Kyneton and Sunbury. Wander round the parks and gardens in Mount Macedon, or take a quiet stroll around Lake Daylesford.

The best bushwalking can be found in the national, state and regional parks in the area.

These include the Lederderg State Park, Macedon Regional Park, Werribee State Park, Hepburn Regional Park and Hanging Rock Reserve as well as the Wombat State Forest and the Mt Disappointment State Forest.

There are numerous restaurants in the area, as the Macedon Ranges is known for its culinary excellence. Street cafe’s offer Australian as well as international fare. The Lake House Restaurant is known for its al fresco dining, having won numerous awards over the years for being one of ‘Australia’s Best Restaurants’.
