Located between Gouger and Grote Streets, the market has actually been in operation since 1869, when farmers began selling their fresh produce and more straight from their carts to the public. It has not looked back since, serving the public with delightful foods and everything associated with great eating.
A whole host of restaurants and eateries has sprung up near here, taking full advantage of everything on offer. Adelaide’s Chinatown is included, being located right next door!
Fine artisan foods, excellent wines, smoked and spiced meats such as salamis, pastramis, hams, cheeses and much more continue to entice buyers from all over the city. Foods come from all over the world including of course, Australia. Fresh baked goods including wholesome breads, cakes and confectionaries, coffees and teas, poultry, seafood, speciality foods and chances to try them.
Special Events and Celebrations at the Market are held regularly, celebrating foods, spices, wines, special beverages and food tastings. Check their website for what is on offer now.
