Lamington National Park, Australia

Situated some 3,000 feet above sea level yet only some 30 kilometres from the sunny beaches of Surfers Paradise and the Gold Coast, the park is a place to visit, it attracts many day visitors out to explore the lush green rainforests and mountains, giving an alternate view of this beautiful part of Queensland. Native wildlife and rare birdlife abound, as do the ancient trees of the sub-tropical rainforests.

The Lamington National Park is regarded as one of the most beautiful parks in Australia, although there are others in this region of South East Queensland which are just as scenic and stunning.

There are over 500 cascades and waterfalls in the Lamington park, fed by clear mountain streams that add to the atmosphere that recall the region’s ancient past and the ecological importance of this place.

Part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park protects important plant and animal species that have ancestors that are part of the fossil record of the ancient continent when all of earth’s continents were joined together.
