This grand building, located at the top of Bourke St on Spring St, signifies the state of Victoria as a state of strength, with its bold colonnades, grand steps and beautiful lamps.
The original design was conceived after a contest held in 1853 came up with inadequate concepts. Charles Paisley designed the original parliament after the site was chosen in 1854, it was improved on for the next forty years by Peter Kerr and John George Knight.
For more information regarding the Parliament of Victoria see Parliament of Victoria.
